FDIC vs. NCUA vs. SIPC

FDIC insures eligible bank deposits; NCUA administers federal credit-union share insurance. SIPC addresses missing eligible customer assets when a member brokerage fails. SIPC does not insure market losses.

MMDA vs. MMF

A money market deposit account is a bank deposit. A money market fund is an investment fund. Similar names do not give them the same insurance or risk profile.

SEC: regulator or ACH code?

A securities filing uses SEC for the Securities and Exchange Commission. An ACH payment file uses SEC for Standard Entry Class. The workflow identifies which meaning fits.

KYC vs. CIP vs. CDD

ETF vs. ETN

An ETF is a pooled investment fund. An ETN is debt linked to a benchmark or strategy and carries issuer credit risk. Both sit within the broader ETP category.

DTI vs. LTV vs. DSCR

DTI compares debt payments with income. LTV compares a loan with property value. DSCR compares defined income or cash flow with debt service. Each answers a different lending question.

LE vs. CD vs. CD

In a mortgage file, LE is the Loan Estimate and CD is the Closing Disclosure. On a deposit statement, CD usually means certificate of deposit. Preserve the document context.

ROA vs. ROE vs. NIM

ROA relates net income to average assets. ROE relates net income to average equity. NIM relates net interest income to average earning assets. Match the period and annualization before comparing.

IRR: investment return or rate risk?

A cash-flow model uses IRR for internal rate of return. A bank risk report may use IRR for interest rate risk. The same letters can describe a return estimate or a risk exposure.

LCR vs. NSFR

LCR addresses a defined short-term liquidity stress horizon. NSFR addresses the stability of funding over a longer horizon. Both require regulatory inputs and definitions beyond a simple cash ratio.

RTO vs. RPO

RTO is the target time to restore a service. RPO is the target limit on how far back the recovered data may go. Recovery speed and potential data loss are separate planning decisions.
