*This Pilot Flight Data Calculator is intended for educational and general informational purposes only. It does not replace official flight planning tools or certified aviation software. Calculations such as distances, estimated times, airspeeds, and wind effects are based on publicly available data and may not reflect real-world conditions. All results should be independently verified and should not be relied upon for actual navigation or flight planning. Always consult with certified flight operations personnel and follow aviation authority regulations when planning a flight. Use of this tool is at your own risk.
This powerful flight planning tool helps you estimate great-circle distance, true airspeed, groundspeed, wind impact, and estimated time of arrival using either your current GPS location or a custom-defined start point.
Follow these steps to use the calculator:
By default, the tool attempts to use your current GPS location. If successful, it will autofill the starting point and show your location above the globe.
To enter a custom start location instead, click the “Enter Custom Start Location” button and input an ICAO code, city name, or latitude/longitude (e.g., KJFK
, New York
, or 40.71,-74.00
).
Enter a positive value for headwinds or a negative value for tailwinds.
If left blank, the calculator will attempt to auto-fetch real-time winds aloft based on your cruise altitude and flight midpoint.
Click “Fetch Winds & Calculate Flight” to generate your results.
The tool will fetch location data, apply wind corrections, and display your departure and arrival details, estimated groundspeed, total flight time, and more.
Tip: For most accurate results, allow GPS access and use precise location inputs. If wind data cannot be fetched, the calculator will default to zero wind.
