2026 Florida bonus withholding

Florida Bonus Pay Tax Calculator

Bonus inputs

Use gross-to-net for a planned bonus or net-to-gross when a take-home amount was promised.

Enter the taxable bonus to be paid.
If the bonus is not separately stated, federal withholding uses combined wage logic.
The optional 22% federal flat method generally depends on regular wages having had income tax withheld in the current or prior year.
Covered wages already paid by this employer toward the 2026 $184,500 base. Include current-check regular wages if they consume the cap before the bonus.
Used for the employer-administered $200,000 Additional Medicare withholding threshold. Include current-check regular wages if paid before the bonus.
Used for aggregate withholding comparisons.
Federal aggregate settings (Form W-4 2020 or later)
Aggregate method 1b subtracts the amount actually withheld or to be withheld. Leave blank to estimate it from the W-4 settings when the eligibility box is checked; otherwise the baseline is $0.
Include earlier supplemental payments tied to the same reference regular-pay period.
Employer cost estimate settings
The initial rate applies for the first 10 reported quarters. An experienced employer's RT-20 notice controls.
Covered Florida wages already paid by this employer toward the $7,000 annual base. Include current-check regular wages if they consume the base first.
Percent of this bonus treated as covered Florida reemployment wages; ordinary covered Florida employment is typically 100%.
New employers use 2.7%. Enter an experienced employer's RT-20 rate up to 5.4%, or the actual approved Short-Time Compensation rate up to 6.4% only for a year STC benefits are charged to its record.
Federal unemployment wages already paid by this employer toward the $7,000 annual base. Include current-check regular wages if they consume the base first.
The 0.6% default assumes timely, full state contributions on all corresponding FUTA wages, the maximum state credit, and no credit reduction. DOL says final 2026 credit-reduction status is not determined until November 10; recheck the year-end Form 940 treatment on or after that date.

What this calculator includes

Federal supplemental methods

Model the optional 22% federal flat supplemental method, the mandatory 37% excess rate above $1 million, and the aggregate method using 2026 Pub. 15-T annual percentage tables.

Florida employee withholding

Florida state and local wage-income withholding are shown as $0 so employees can see that federal income tax and FICA drive the paycheck estimate.

Employer-side cost detail

Employer Social Security, Medicare, FUTA, and Florida reemployment tax estimates are separated from employee take-home pay.

Florida bonus withholding FAQ

Does Florida tax bonuses?

Florida does not add state income tax withholding to bonus wages. Federal supplemental wage withholding, Social Security, Medicare, and Additional Medicare Tax can still apply.

Does Florida reemployment tax reduce take-home pay?

No. Florida reemployment tax is an employer-paid payroll tax. This calculator includes it only in the employer cost estimate, not in employee withholding.

Why can aggregate withholding differ from 22%?

The aggregate method adds the bonus to regular wages for a payroll period, calculates federal withholding on the combined payment, then subtracts the withholding on regular wages alone.

Calculate bonuses inside the full payroll workflow

One-off bonus estimates are useful, but payroll teams still need approved earnings, correct tax settings, direct deposit, pay stubs, and audit-ready records in the same system.

Actual bonus withholding, net pay, and employer payroll costs may differ due to factors such as employee withholding elections, Form W-4 settings, pre-tax deductions, retirement contributions, benefit plans, garnishments, wage-base limits, supplemental wage treatment, employer payroll policies, software configuration, regulatory updates, or other circumstances not reflected by this calculator. While reasonable efforts are made to keep the calculator accurate and current, no warranty is made regarding the completeness, accuracy, or applicability of its results.
